Shamu has passed away...9/9/2009

Sorry for the delay in letting everyone know about Shamu. He passed away unexpectedly on 9/9/2009-possibly had his stomach twist inside of his ribcage and caused bloating. That is what the vet said? Didn't know where my passwords were to get back on here, finally remembered them. Lots of other things have been going on, too. I may leave this sight up for a while, but will not be posting to it anymore. Hope everyone enjoyed it.

Happy Fourth of July

This is the weekend to celebrate for humans, I on the other hand do not particularly enjoy fireworks. Scares the bark right out of me!!! People around here can get crazy with those fireworks. We live in town..so they are not supposed to shoot them off here, but they continue to do it. Mom likes watching them for some reason??? I don't understand why we have to stand outside with a water hose hooked up when they start shooting those chaser things? I jumped up on Mom last year and almost knocked her over trying to get her back inside to safety! She says it has something to do with our house being wood....??? They did start a fire in the neighbor's yard last year with those things, so I guess that has something to do with it, too. So, if you enjoy loud bangs and flashes, have fun...I will be inside!!! (unless Mom goes outside...ugh!)

What a weekend!

Hi, everyone! Wow, it has been a hot weekend here! 101 degrees several days. Prissy, the gang, and I have been inside most of the weekend. The humidity is too much even for us pets!

Mom stayed home this weekend, too. The a/c in the truck went out, so until she gets that fixed... I know she will not be taking me on any drives around town. I hate not being able to go for rides, but I will definitely wait! What can I say...I am spoiled to a/c just like she is! (That is why mom installed a misting system out back several years ago...to help keep me cool when we are outside. Hey, it was either that, or to shear my beautiful hair, and I was having none of that! Even though I teased her about it in another writing.)

Mom is going to be working evenings soon, so we will be able to enjoy the days together playing. It is cooler in the mornings, so I don't mind being outside then. Speaking of that...got to run for now. Play time!!! Have a great day everyone!

Hot tomales!!! (I know...tamales!)

Not the food...it is hot as hot tamales here in Texas!!! Prissy and I (and the kittens) are all staying inside the past few days to stay cool. It is a little more boring than being outside, but at least it is not burning up. We have been reaching a heat index over 100 this week and it is only June. I hope that is not what it will be like later this summer, but around here it will probably get hotter. Wonder how I would look with no hair??? Just thinking cool thoughts...don't think my mom would let me do that, though...just an idea.

We haven't chased any wild cats up the tree lately. So, guess they are lucky it is hot, huh? Except that our cats and us are cool and they have to fend for themselves. (That is if the animal catcher doesn't get them first.) I don't know if they belong to someone, but if they do...they need to take them to their house and keep them away from our cats! I wouldn't tell anyone, but our kittens are kind of growing on me now. They even come up and rub noses with me. I don' t particularly like that, but I just growl a little bit and they eventually go on and play somewhere else. However, if they are not where I can see them...I still go looking for them. Have to make sure they are safe...guess it is my herding nature.

Mom is getting ready to cook, so guess I had better go supervise that. She may give me a sample if I am good. Have a great evening everyone!

PS: This is a picture of one of those wild cats sitting on my truck! How dare they!

Time Fly's with us...

Hi, everyone! Wow, I cannot believe it has been so long since we have posted anything. Mom has been real busy with her job and trying to keep all of the kittens together. Their mom disappeared about a week after they were born, so mom had to bottle feed them for a while. We lost the little one with the white bowtie mustache. She or he refused to eat anything or drink anything after her/his mom left. We miss them, they were so cute!!! The other kittens are real active now...still a little small, but getting large enough where mom can try and find new families for them all. Prissy's dad may take some of them with him to the farm in a few weeks.

We have been pretty much staying inside the last few days. It poured here the other night and it is still muddy. Prissy and I do not like getting mud on us....guess we are a little dainty...lol. Anyway, it is supposed to be a nice hot weekend, so we should be able to get out there then!

I will try to catch up reading everyone's blogs soon. Have a great day!!!

Cat Protectors...ssshhhhh

Okay, though we would never admit it to anyone...we are sort of fond of our cats. Prissy and I had a stray cat get in our yard the other day and it was our duty to protect our cats. We chased that cat all over the yard and cornered it by the fence! We were just about to grab it when mom whistled for us to stop barking. When we turned around, the cat took off. So, we decided to ignore mom, and chased it up the tree. Bet that darn cat won't show up in our yard again! How dare that cat...it is our job to chase our cats!Too bad we couldn't climb trees like that other border collie in the video...or that cat would have been in big trouble!Remember...

Pizza party

Today is a special day for us...mom ordered pizza for everybody. You would have thought that she had set down a steak. We haven't had pizza in a long time and Prissy's dad paid for us to get pizza as a special treat. We all looked like the fish do when you throw food into the water for them to eat....we swarmed the box! Mom gave each of us a slice... okay Prissy and I got more than one slice...but the cats only got one. (Prissy and I are bigger, so we deserved more, in my opinion.) It was our favorite...hamburger and cheese. Mom didn't get all the veggies since we were going to eat some. I feel very lucky to have gotten pizza today, since I acted so nutty last night.

Did I mention that we got put in bed early last night? Well, we did a bad thing...according to mom...I think it is still debatable. Prissy is always trying to eat my, and everyone else's food, in the house before she eats her own. She got into a little of my food one too many times and I growled at her. She growled back at me, so we kind of tussled...til mom yelled at us to stop and get in our beds! She said that she wasn't going to tolerate that kind of behavior from us...whatever that meant??? I was just trying to let Prissy know I was tired of her stealing my food...so I don't know what the big deal was. Anyway, we got put in bed early. We have been super good today and didn't fight at all over the pizza either! Plus we are giving mom kisses and hugs all day...cause we don't want to go to bed early tonight! Woof Woof

Love the mail lady today!

Oh boy, oh boy! The mail lady was nice to us today...even though I still barked at her arrival. She brought us a package from Prissy's dad with all kinds of goodies in it! Woof woof!!!!

We got a new leash...been needing another one since Prissy chewed through our old ones. Plus we got a chili flavored Slim Jim apiece! (kind of like a beef jerky) He also sent us some of our favorite chewing gum...spearmint flavored. Did I mention that we love gum? If not....we do!!! Now if mom will just keep those darn cats out of the way, so we can eat our Slim Jim's in peace, it will be a perfect day! Actually, we do share it with the cats...so don't feel too sorry for them.(But, we do not share our gum! They will have to use something else to get their minty fresh breath!)

It is a beautiful day today, so I am going to run play some frisbee. It is supposed to get colder again tomorrow and you know mom doesn't play frisbee if it gets too cold outside. Hope you all have a great evening!

Yucky day

Well, the weather has changed again and it is now misty and foggy! Prissy and I have been sleeping most of the day since we can't go outside and play frisbee or anything. The cats have been taking turns sitting in mom's lap while she has been working today. Don't know what has gotten into them, but they think they cannot last more than a few minutes on the floor! She puts them back on the floor and they promptly jump right back up in her lap. They are kind of cute...and they aren't pulling on my tail as often as they used to. So, guess they are starting to get used to me now?Think I will let them stay... lol.

Hopefully mom will get her camera fixed soon so we can put some more pictures on here. The bluebonnet season is coming and we should be able to get several good ones when they start blooming. Plus they have a huge polka festival coming to town in May...maybe we can get some pictures of the parade and costumed people.??? We'll see what happens! Have a great evening and give your pets an extra hug.

Having a chocolate meltdown?

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and got some sweet gifts! (...wipe that chocolate off your face...) I guess my mom hid any chocolate she may have had, since we can't eat it...not for lack of trying, though. She has to hide all chocolate from Prissy. I normally don't mess with anything on the table, so she didn't think anything about leaving chocolate kisses there in a dish when Prissy was younger. Prissy got in there when mom was busy, stole the candy, and ate all of the chocolates...wrappers and all! Mom was real worried, but it didn't seem to affect Prissy any. So, now mom hides anything she doesn't want us to eat...especially anything chocolate. Plus, thanks to Prissy, if we get too quite...mom knows to come looking for us, cause we're probably into something. Bummer!

My strange behavior

My mom noticed something today that I do quite often. I do not know why I do this, but I do. It seems that anytime my mom offers me something to eat (people food), she must take a bite first, before I will eat it. This includes my favorites, like pizza, burgers, etc. I guess that I want to make sure it is worthy of her tastes...if not, I do not want it either! Once she has taken a bite, I will usually eat whatever it is. That is, unless it is fruit or some yucky vegetables. I do not particularly like those things...although, I have been known to eat some bananas with peanut butter. But, don't tell anyone about the bananas...may ruin my meat eating image.

Do you have any quirky behavior? If so, share with me!

Lucy: The Tree Climbing Dog

This is Lucy...she is a tree climber. I think she must hang out with some cats, too??? She is the same breed as I am, but I don't climb trees...I haven't mastered that trick.

New day, new friends

Hello, everyone! It is a beautiful day today! All of the bad storms are gone and the sun is once again shining brightly. I even got to go for another ride with my mom a few minutes ago. I love that!

I met some awesome friends today, too! I signed up with "http://www.scottyfriends.ning.com"-they tell you everything about scotties that you could ever want to know. There are some great humans on this site, too! They allowed me to join, so they must be awesome...since we all know I am not a scottie. (Not to mention, I already made several friends and have only signed up today!!! How cool!!!) Check them out!

Evening walk...

We went out for an evening walk (mom says I "drag", not walk.) I really am trying to do better, but I just can't help being excited with life! I have to check out everything and mark every bush so other dogs know that I was there. I did real good this time, though...I didn't bark at anyone, or any cars tonight! I am so proud of myself!!! I even got mom to grin by being so good. (She hasn't grinned a lot lately because of my whining all day! I just can't seem to help myself. I know mom will be glad when Prissy is out of heat!) The cats were all waiting at the door for my return. I can't believe they missed me so much. Okay, maybe it was mom they missed, cause they took off when I came in the door first. Anyway, have a great night and I will talk to you tomorrow!

Crazy dog--by crazy I mean amazing

I was looking through some videos on You Tube and just had to share this awesome dog story! I couldn't believe it...so sweet! Just shows there is a dog for everyone and everyone for a dog! Enjoy.

Puppy size..

Get the kleenex ready! My sis sent me this...enjoy!

Puppy Size... This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will

know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll want

to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to

this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since

we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer. 'What is it she

keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked. 'Puppy size!' replied the

mother.

'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.

' 'I know... we have seen most of them,' the mum said in

frustration... Just then Danielle came walking into the office

'Well, did you find one?' asked her mum. 'No, not this time,

'Danielle said with sadness in her voice 'Can we come back

on the weekend?'

The 2 women looked at each other, shook their heads and

laughed 'You never know when we will get more dogs.

Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door.

'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.Over the next

few days both Mum and Dad had long conversations with her.

They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend

or we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.

'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,'

Mom added. Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter

on Saturday morning. By now Danielle knew her way around,

so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mum sat in the small waiting room at the

end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window

so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't

permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically

to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and

she held each one. One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not

the one.' It was the last cage on this last day in search of the

perfect pup. The volunteer opened the cage door and the

child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely.

This time she took a little longer. 'Mum, that's it! I found

the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' She screamed

with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over

the last few weeks,' Mum said. 'No not size... The sighs.

When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said.

'Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what

love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your

heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The 2 women looked at each other for a moment.

Mum didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped

down to hug the child, she did a little of both.

'Mum, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy

come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh.

I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I

held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy

up close to her face, she said, 'Mum, he loves me.

I heard the sighs of his heart!'

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love

that makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my

loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the

moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day.

They are the sighs of God. Take the time to stop and listen;

you will be surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured

by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our

breath away.'

Hope your life is filled with Sighs !!!
